NAPA Racing UK and Ash Sutton Celebrate Championship Success at Silverstone

NAPA Racing UK made history in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Silverstone last weekend as Ash Sutton secured a record-breaking fifth Drivers’ title, with the team also extending an enviable run of success with a fifth consecutive Teams’ title alongside the Manufacturers’ honours. 

Sutton has established himself as one of the defining drivers of the modern BTCC era, and his 2023 season — his second year with the NAPA Racing UK team — was historic.  

At 29, Sutton became the BTCC’s youngest-ever quadruple champion. His 12 race wins equalled Alain Menu’s modern-era single-season record, while his six pole positions matched James Thompson’s 2003 benchmark. He also became the first driver since 1997 to win four consecutive BTCC races in a season, and the championship made Sutton the first driver to win BTCC titles in both front- and rear-wheel-drive machinery.   

With the support of NAPA Auto Parts and the wider Alliance Automotive Group, NAPA Racing UK has continued to break records and set new benchmarks in the UK’s premier tier of motorsport. 2026 is an extension of that legacy of success. 

Debuting the new Ford Focus Titanium, Sutton’s already silverware-laden story in the BTCC has reached even greater heights this year. The 32-year-old has been an ever-present at the front of the field, claiming nine wins and a further ten podiums to establish a 132-point lead, the largest championship lead held by a driver in almost three decades. 

At Silverstone, the world-famous ‘Home of British Motorsport’, Sutton and the team inked the latest chapter in their remarkable story, which began with the team’s first win at Knockhill in 2022, gathered pace with championship success in 2023, and has since evolved into one of the most formidable partnerships of the championship’s modern era. 

A difficult qualifying put Sutton in the midfield for the first race but, using all of his experience, nous, and race craft, he charged through on the softer, grippier Goodyear tyres and with a full allocation of boost to convert a sixth row start into victory and an unassailable championship lead in the process. 

The celebrations extend across the NAPA Racing UK garage; with the support of Sutton’s team-mates Dan Cammish, Sam Osborne and Lewis Selby, the team also secured the 2026 Teams’ Championship.  

It is their fifth consecutive teams’ title, having won the championship in every season since joining the BTCC in 2022. This exceptional run of sustained performance, at the highest level of British motorsport, marks another new championship record.

The continued success of the programme reflects the ambition that drives both organisations on and off the track.  

Ash Sutton said: “I don’t think this is going to sink in. Everything has been pretty special today, in every way, and it’s actually been an emotional one. I’ve been trying to hide it for a lot of the day. There was a phase where I probably could have got the title won in race one, but that wasn’t the true Ash style to go and get the fifth. So, I spiced it up a little bit and made sure it went to race two. Like I said, I wanted to do it in the true Ash style, and I hope I have done. 

“The fifth feels like the most special. There’s a full force of people behind us, so it’s great to reward them. We’ve done it in such a manner, and it’s going down in the history books for many reasons. Of course, the first title was always going to stick with me, but this is above and beyond.  

“To have my boys here today has been very special. I promised Sonny when he was born that I’d get him a championship, which we did in 2023. And, ever since Hadley’s been born, I’ve owed him one, so I’ve just paid that debt, and now we can celebrate!”

Alliance Racing also reclaimed the Manufacturers’ Championship, last won in 2023, underlining the strength of its on-track programme and the collective effort across its teams and partners.

With one round remaining in the 2026 BTCC season, NAPA Racing UK and NAPA Auto Parts head to the Brands Hatch finale determined to finish this historic campaign in style. Dan Cammish arrives third in the Drivers’ Championship and will be aiming to secure a NAPA one-two in the final standings. Meanwhile, Lewis Selby and Sam Osborne will seek to maximise their points in the Jack Sears Trophy, where they currently sit second and fifth respectively.
